A Shakespearean Sonnet (Zoé Vleer)
Thy lovely voice makes my heart warm
Thy shining eyes make my heart jump
Without thou my life’s a storm
Without thou I feel so numb
I heard the most beautiful laugh
I saw the most charming smile
I felt an overwhelming love
I wanne walk with thou down the aisle
But why dost thou tell me so many lies
Thou broke my heart too many times
I canst not look in the eyes
Thy heart is colder than ice
Thou gave my life much energy
but now you’re just a memory.
Role Play (Amelie Schneider)
Shakespeare reads out the sonnet.
Shakespeare: Say something.
Dark Lady remains silent for a while.
Dark Lady: Am I a joke to you? Is this how you see me - repulsive and reeking?
Shakespeare: What? You did not listen properly - the end - I just confessed my love for you.
Dark Lady: Oh, I did listen properly. Why would you embarrass me like that? Instead of just telling me that I am less than appealing to you, your write it out - for all the world to hear.
As if I am nothing to you-
Shakespeare: But you are everything-
Dark Lady laughs ironically.
Shakespeare: Don’t you understand? My love for you runs so much deeper than to care about looks.
Looks are transient. They do not matter. All that matters are our emotions. It makes us human, it makes us who we are.
Dark Lady stays silent.
Shakespeare: My dear, I do not want to lie to you, Would you like me to be dishonest to get in your good graces?
That is not true love. True love is loving someone regardless of their imperfections.
Dark Lady starts to stutter: Are you serious?
Shakespeare: Call me a fool, but I adore your hair, your cheeks, your lips and the way your eyes are nothing like the sun.
Just because something is different does not mean it is less special.
Dark Lady starts to smile: I did not know this is how you feel.
Shakespeare: I know that my love confession is by no means conventional, it is complex and complicated and-
Dark Lady: And that is what makes it so much more meaningful.
Shakespeare smiles.
Winter Wonderland (Amelie Schneider)
Spark by spark,
Winter takes over my heart:
Snowy flakes fill the dark,
Floating in each and every part,
Suddenly I remember those same days:
Thee voice in my head - melody
Our hands intertwined - always
The scent of thee perfume - remedy;
But your spell shouldn’t last past nine
Crimson covers my hand,
Almost making me regret being thine
Is this our winter wonderland ?
My love, my sun, my sinking
Now I can stop thinking.
